Diabetes mellitus

Obesity is a complex medical condition characterized by an excessive accumulation of body fat that can negatively impact overall health. It is commonly measured using the Body Mass Index (BMI), where a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese. This condition is often the result of a combination of factors, including unhealthy dietary habits, lack of physical activity, genetic predisposition, hormonal imbalances, and environmental influences.

Obesity significantly increases the risk of developing serious health problems such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and certain types of cancer. It can also affect mental health, leading to low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, obesity may reduce mobility and overall quality of life.

Prevention and management of obesity involve adopting a balanced and nutritious diet, engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and, in some cases, seeking medical intervention. Early awareness and consistent efforts are essential to control weight and prevent complications. Addressing obesity not only improves physical health but also enhances emotional well-being and longevity.
